About Sangkatan (Giving Alms to Monks)
SangKhaTan, also known as giving alms, is a practice commonly observed during important festive periods in Thailand. Devotees engage in this act of compassion to support monks in their living and practices, generate good merits for themselves and loved ones, and learn to give and let go.
The accumulation of wealth can lead to bondage to selfishness and a sense of suffering, but giving helps to break free from this cycle and attain liberation towards Buddhahood. By learning and practicing the philosophy of Buddhism, compassion, and giving back, one can experience the ultimate satisfaction that comes with it and positively impact the world.
In Thailand, Sangkatan or giving alms typically involves high-quality sets or bundles priced at approximately 130, 150 or 200 SGD, containing items such as monk robes, daily necessities, food, stationery, and shoes.
Participating in Sangkatan brings several benefits, including the purification of negative karma, overcoming life obstacles, achieving financial success and abundance, cultivating loving kindness and compassion, improving personal charisma and Metta, receiving preferential treatment and benefits from noble people, maintaining good physical and mental health, and being bestowed with blessings.
To participate in this meaningful event, kindly provide your name and the names of your loved ones, and indicate who you wish to dedicate the merit towards.
Each Sangkatan set (monk robes, daily necessities, food, stationeries, shoes):
Small - SGD130
Medium - SGD150
Large - SGD200
